Water Infrastructure
The focus of Australian Water is to deliver water infrastructure to greenfield areas. The community requires four main services:
- Potable (drinking) water
- Wastewater
- Stormwater
- Recycled water
Australian Water is committed to providing recycled water that conserves and enhances the local water supply. To provide these four core services, Australian Water delivers the following infrastructure:
- Sewage / Recycled Water treatment plants
- Reservoirs
- Water & sewage pumping stations
- Trunk stormwater drainage
- Dual reticulation pipes
- Sewer carriers
Package 1 Works Commenced
We are currently proceeding to provide water related infrastructure works to new release areas in the North West Growth Centre. This Infrastructure, Package 1 will service approximately 6,000 new homes and involves the construction of sewer, drinking water and recycled water pipelines and a drinking water reservoir.
We have contracted Reed Construction Australia to design, construct and commission the infrastructure works. The contract was awarded in November 2008 with design and survey work continuing until the end of 2009. Construction at the reservoir commenced in mid 2009 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2010 subject to weather and ground conditions.
The infrastructure works are being delivered in an environmentally sensitive manner. A Construction Environmental Management Plan has been prepared to ensure the impacts in the community and the environment are minimised at all times.
