Strategy Development
We place great importance in pre development activities to establish not only the management framework for delivery but also the technical, environmental, financial and contractual framework.
This includes:
- Reviewing and refining existing Master Water Servicing Plans for the future urban areas or developing a new Master Plan if none exist;
- Developing concept arrangements and designs for the trunk water infrastructure;
- Establishing the most efficient design supply and construction delivery strategy, taking into account landowner requirements, government requirements for serviced land environmental constraints and Sydney Water technical requirement;
- Establishing and managing the arrangements for project financing and revenue recovery; and
- Developing legal funding and technical & environmental documentation to facilitate efficient and effective delivery
Design
We choose generally through selective tendering, the most appropriate design consultants based on their experience and service performance.
We work closely with the design consultant and Sydney Water technical personnel (both engineering and operational) to develop advanced concepts documented through needs specifications, drawings and technical specifications.
This forms the basis of delivery contracts often in the form of design, supply and construct contracts. The form of contract may vary depending on an assessment of time, cost, quality and risk aspects of the project.
Construction
We manage the chosen design and construction contractors to ensure the project objectives and specifications are achieved. We pay close attention to establishing and maintaining good relationships between all stakeholders during construction. Key stakeholders include Sydney Water, the contractor, landowners, public authorities, the general public and employees. Maintaining a safe workplace is critical to the success of each project. We expect our contractors to be proactive and to take the lead in driving progress and expeditiously managing issues when they arise.
Project Management
We supplement our development team where necessary with specialist project and construction management personnel to provide the appropriate balance of knowledge and experience. Our management systems enable us to efficiently manage, scope, cost, time and quality to ensure our commitments to safety and environmental protection are achieved.
